Principal’s Address – 2025
There is no greater privilege than leading an educational community, and at Mawarra Public School, we remain steadfast in our commitment to fostering a culture of excellence, growth, and opportunity for every student.
In 2025, we continue to strive for connection and belonging, academic growth, personal success, engagement, and strong community ties, ensuring that all students are supported in reaching their full potential across social, emotional, academic, and physical domains.
At the core, we believe that student well-being is the foundation of success—students thrive when they feel connected to their school and engaged in their learning. To strengthen this commitment, all staff have completed Berry Street Education Model training, reinforcing our dedication to structured, predictable routines that provide a safe and supportive learning environment. Positive relationships between students and staff are at the heart of everything we do, creating a school culture where every child feels valued, understood, and empowered to achieve their best.
Student engagement, both in and out of the classroom, is a key priority. We are actively working with students to define what engagement looks and sounds like in learning. As students take greater ownership of their education, they become active agents in their learning journey, developing strong self-regulation strategies that empower them to succeed. We continue to have a strong focus on literacy and numeracy through explicit teaching and providing opportunities for all learners, including high-potential students.
One of our key priorities is formative assessment, with a strong emphasis on lesson goals and success criteria to make learning visible and meaningful for students. All of our focus areas intertwine, and our staff collaborate weekly to plan for student learning and discuss learning impact, ensuring we are responsive to student needs.
Mawarra Public School continues to be an outstanding public school, built on high expectations, innovation, and strong community spirit. I look forward to another year of working alongside our incredible students, staff, and families.
